ABOUT THE SITE
OtakuDeus is a blog that was founded on 1 October 2010. Since then, it has been dedicated to covering all aspects of otakuism, from the mundane like anime and manga, to the obscure like the cultural differences that help propogate many series and memes.
The site name, OtakuDeus, is derived from the words “Otaku”, which is the Japanese word for geek or fan, and “Deus”, the Greek word for god. The site motto is a continuation of this theme, with “Omnipresence in all things otaku.”
HISTORY
The roots of OtakuDeus can be traced back to April 16, 2006, when site founder Maxite created a series of videos on Youtube called the “Gran Fisher Show”, which was about an alien who talked about various aspects of anime. Youtube had options indicating where the video was shot, and it was written that the Gran Fisher Show was recorded in Livingroom Studios. Around June of 2006, Livingroom Studios opened up as a minor board on a military RPG forum, and stayed active for a few months before shutting down due to reorganization. It wasn’t until March 18, 2009 that a Livingroom Studios blog was formed on AnimeBloggers.us, and shortly afterwards it was renamed to AnimeDeus, which was hosted on the same provided until early March 2010 when AnimeBloggers shut down. In October of 2010, the site was born again as OtakuDeus. For a shorter summary, read below:
